What's On in Cape Town
What’s On in Cape Town (working title) will be a weekly actuality show for CTV that covers events happening in the Cape Town metropolitan region. This 26-minute programme will consist of a series of inserts linked by a presenter in a studio setting. The inserts will cover a) events that have happened in Cape Town over the past week and b) events that are coming up, either during the following week or in the longer term. Events to be covered include exhibitions, festivals, conferences, markets, concerts and community days – anything that is open to the public or of interest to special interest groups.
The show will be anchored by two presenters who will introduce inserts and interview guests in the studio. They will be our guides to cultural life in Cape Town, as it is expressed in the many events that enliven this vibrant city. They will conduct in-studio interviews with people who want to publicise events coming up, while inserts will refer to either past events or events to come.
Inserts will be made by video journalists and will vary in length from one to five minutes, depending on the nature of the event covered and its significance for the general. They will mix overlay footage of the event with on-site interviews of people who are organizing, visiting or otherwise participating in the event.
The show will solicit videos about events from both promoters and the public. Selection criteria will include degree of public interest, technical quality of recording and editing, use of non-copyright music and variety. The show will focus on cultural and community events and will exclude sport and politics.
